The Swan pub raised almost £2,000 at its charity auction last weekend.
Regulars and local businesses including Canal Cruising, Sir Thomas Brocklebank, Blue Rooms, Green Trees Retail, SAP Tree surgeons and Angel Homecare donated items which were auctioned off at the Stafford Street pub on Sunday 16th December.
The £1982.30 that was raised will go to the Stone Scout and Guide Band (who performed in the beer garden on the day) and the Cycle India for Ovarian Cancer charity. The amount included one person donating their wages for a day!
Landlord Barrie said: “Thank you to Christ Church for blessing the auction when we opened the Advent Window at 11am on the Sunday morning and thanks to everyone who donated items and services. And a special thank you to everyone who turned up on the day. We thought we’d be lucky if we raised a three-figure amount this year. We know that financial times are hard but when someone like Dani Hiscox does something inspiring like donate their wages for the day I think it helps people remember why we have the auction.”
