Barlaston illustrator launches children’s book inspired by nursery goodbyes

A Barlaston writer and illustrator has launched a crowdfunding campaign to publish a children’s picture book inspired by the difficult goodbyes she experienced when her daughter started nursery.

Pocket Mum Kickstarter

Sarah Dixon has written and illustrated Pocket Mum, which she hopes will help make nursery and school drop offs a little easier for children and their parents.

The idea came from Sarah’s own experiences with her daughter, Freya.

Sarah said

“I have recently written and illustrated a book, ‘Pocket Mum’, inspired by my daughter, Freya, and the tricky goodbyes we experienced when she started nursery.”

The Kickstarter campaign is aiming to raise £1,750 towards independently publishing the book. It launched on 6 October and is due to run until Thursday 5 November.

Sarah says gifting copies to schools is intended to be an important part of the campaign. If the project is successful, she would also like to visit local schools with the book and continue sharing its message. Pasted markdown

The campaign describes Pocket Mum as a picture book designed to help with emotional nursery and school drop offs.

Readers can find out more and support the project through Sarah’s Kickstarter campaign.
