Cattle die in barn fire at Stone farm

Firefighters from Stone, Stafford and Longton tackled a horrific barn fire in Stone today in which a number of cattle died.

The barn, on a farm just off the A34 in Pirehill, contained around 700 tonnes of hay. The first crew arrived at the scene at 3.30pm on Monday 11th May and firefighters used a compressed air foam system to tackle the fire.

It is thought that 16 cattle died in the fire, with many more injured.
