County to freeze council tax until 2014

Staffordshire County Council has announced that it will be freezing council tax for another two years (2012-14) after there was no rise this year.

Seventy per cent of Stone people’s council tax goes to the county council, with the remainder going to Stafford Borough Council, the fire and police authorities and town/parish councils.

Ian Parry, county council deputy leader, said: “We run a tight ship and our commitment is for the life of our administration. Staffordshire was one of the first large authorities in the UK to commit to a council tax freeze last year and is setting the pace again.”
