Emergency 21 day Road Closure for A34 at Meaford

This morning, Staffordshire County Council has issued an emergency 21-day closure notice on the A34 between the Darlaston Roundabout and Chase Lane.

After significant rain in the last few days, Staffordshire County Council, which is the highway authority responsible for the repair and maintenance of A34 Stone Road in Meaford, are satisfied that it is necessary to close the route to all vehicular traffic along the length of the Northbound A34 Stone Road from its junction with A51 Darlaston Roundabout to Chase Lane for a period of 21 days.

The notice has been issued because of the likelihood of danger to the public due to flooding. Due to the classification of the road, an alternative route for traffic is available via Stone Road, Queensway, A500 J A34 North West Of Hanford Roundabout, Campbell Road, A50 From A500 To City Boundary, A50 From J B5039 Roundabout To J A5005/B5038 Roundabout Link Road E, A50 From J B5039 To J A5005/B5038 E, A50 From J A5005/B5038 To J B5039 W, Sandon Road, Windmill Hill, Longton Road, Radford Street, Crown Street, Stafford Road, The Fillybrooks. Locals are likely to find their own, more direct alternative routes to the official diversion.

Emergency Access will be maintained.

21 days is the standard timeframe for these notices, should the situation improve the order will be lifted.
