Man Time helps men in Stone find support through conversation and connection

A community group in Stone is helping men connect, talk openly and support one another through conversation and shared experience.

Man Time was created to provide a safe and welcoming space where men can meet, open up and realise they are not alone in whatever challenges life may bring.

The Man Time team

The group is run by local volunteers Ian Goodship, Pete Goodship and Stephen Williams, who want to create supportive spaces for men in the local community.

Man Time is aimed at men who may be dealing with stress at work, mental health struggles, loneliness, family pressures, or who simply want to meet new people in a relaxed setting.

The group meets every other Wednesday and is also organising its first social night, with the hope that it will become the first of many opportunities for members to spend time together outside regular meetings.

Working with Headspace FC CIC

Since 2025, Man Time has developed a partnership with Headspace FC CIC, a community focused organisation that uses football and social connection to support mental health and wellbeing.

The partnership has helped Man Time expand what it can offer locally and raise awareness around men’s mental health.

As part of that work, Man Time beer mats have been placed in local pubs to help spread the message that support is available and encourage conversations in places where people naturally gather.

The group says mental health conversations do not always need to happen in formal settings. Sometimes support can begin with something as simple as grabbing a beer or coffee, attending a local event, or speaking to someone who understands.

Man Time at Stone Food and Drink Festival

Man Time will also be at this year’s Stone Food and Drink Festival, where volunteers will be speaking to residents about the group and raising awareness of the importance of connection and mental wellbeing.

The group continues to grow through local support and the belief that no man should feel they have to struggle alone.
