The Friends of ABC Park community committee meeting is due to take place on Thursday 21 May 2026 at Walton Community Centre, with organisers inviting local people to come along and share ideas for the future of the park.

The meeting is scheduled for 7pm and, according to the event poster, will be held inside the classroom at the community centre.

Focus on the future of the park

The event follows earlier community efforts centred on Walton Playing Fields, the open space many local people know as ABC Park.

Campaigners have already been drawing attention to the condition of the park and surrounding facilities, while also trying to build support for improvements. Earlier activity included repair work on the football pitch, fundraising through a community Easter egg hunt, and a public get together aimed at gathering ideas and feedback.

This latest event looks set to move that effort on a step.

According to the poster, discussion on the night will focus on park improvements and ideas, community projects and plans, and possible funding opportunities.

The wording around the meeting is straightforward. Organisers say they want to bring people together to help make the park better for everyone, with residents encouraged to share their views on what should happen next.

Walton meeting open to the community

The event is being promoted as open to all, with organisers making a clear pitch to residents who want to have a say in the future of the site.

The poster also states that local MP Sir Gavin Williamson will be attending.

For those unable to make the meeting in person, organisers have included an email address for people who still want to send in ideas or get in touch.

While it is widely known locally as ABC Park, Stafford Borough Council lists the play area on its Stone play areas page as Whitemill Lane, Stafford Road, Stone ST15 0EG, with facilities including a junior multi-play area, rocker, and cradle and flat swings.

The meeting on Thursday 21 May will give residents a clearer sense of what organisers want to achieve next, and whether wider backing can be built in Walton for longer-term improvements.
