A man has been charged with causing the deaths of two people on the A500 in Stoke-on-Trent last year.
James Tatton, aged 24, from Longton, Stoke-on-Trent, has been charged with two counts of causing death by dangerous driving and will appear before magistrates in Newcastle-under-Lyme on 7th June.
The charges relate to the deaths of Marcus Smith, who was 22, from Yarnfield, and Sean Longstaff, 22, from Woodhouse Street in Stoke-on-Trent.
The two men were passengers in a green Vauxhall Vectra which was in collision with a white articulated goods vehicle on the southbound carriageway of the A500 at Cliffe Vale at around 4.45am on Saturday 22nd August 2015. Sadly, both were pronounced dead at the scene. Tatton was the driver of the Vectra and was arrested.
Following a detailed investigation by officers from the Collision Investigation Unit he was charged on Friday 6th May.
