Police investigate report of missing cash at Stone Banking Hub

Police are investigating a report of missing cash following an incident at the Banking Hub on Stone High Street.

Staffordshire Police said officers were called at around 4 pm on Monday 26 January after a woman reported that £140 was missing during a cash deposit earlier that afternoon.

Police said the woman attended the hub at around 2 pm and attempted to pay in cash. She was told there was a limit on how much could be deposited at one time, with the remaining cash returned.

It was later reported that £140 was unaccounted for.

A Staffordshire Police spokesperson said:

“We were called at 4pm yesterday (Monday 26 January) to an address on High Street, Stone, following reports of a possible fraud.

A woman reported that she had tried to pay in cash at a hub at around 2pm when she was told there was a limit on the amount she could pay in.

The outstanding cash was returned to the woman, but £140 was reported missing.

The Banking Hub on Stone High Street is owned by Cash Access UK, with counter services provided by the Post Office.

A spokesperson for Cash Access UK told A Little Bit of Stone that the organisation is cooperating with the investigation.

“We take these matters very seriously and are working closely with the Post Office and the team are assisting the local Police where necessary,” they said.
