Two men have been charged with murder in connection with the death of 20 year old Stone man Jamie Evans.
Staffordshire Police said Corey Hughes, 20, of Newcastle-under-Lyme, who is White British, has been charged with murder and possession of a knife in a public place.
Connor Edward Cartlidge, 22, of Newcastle-under-Lyme, who is White British, has also been charged with murder and possession of a knife in a public place.
Both men remain in custody and are due to appear at the North Staffordshire Justice Centre on Tuesday 8 September.
A 19 year old man from Newcastle-under-Lyme, who had been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder, has been released on conditional bail while police enquiries continue.
Police were called to Orme Road in Newcastle-under-Lyme just after 5pm on Friday 4 September by West Midlands Ambulance Service, which was responding to a collision involving a Ford Fiesta and a parked Audi.
The driver of the Ford was Jamie Evans, from Stone.
Police said Jamie was found with a serious injury consistent with a stab wound, which they believe he suffered on Orme Road before getting into the car.
He was later pronounced dead.
Jamie’s family have since paid tribute to their “wonderful son, loving brother and doting uncle”, describing his warmth, kindness and great sense of humour.
Stone SP Cricket Club also paid tribute to Jamie, saying he had many friends at the club and had played alongside several current members while representing Staffordshire cricket. The club remembered him as “a talented wicketkeeper and, more importantly, a lovely lad”.
