Stone residents raise concerns over replacement food waste bag system

Stone residents who have run out of food waste caddy liners can pick up replacement rolls from Stone Library.

Stone Food Waste Collection Bins

The reminder follows reports from residents across the town that replacement liners have not always been left after people used the yellow tag system.

Stafford Borough Council’s food waste leaflet explains that a yellow tag appears near the end of each roll of liners. Residents are asked to attach the tag to the handle of their kerbside caddy, which should let collection crews know that a new roll is needed.

However, some Stone residents have reported attaching the tag as instructed but not receiving a replacement roll after their caddy was emptied.

Food waste collections take place weekly on the usual bin collection day, using a separate vehicle.

Residents who need replacement liners can collect them from Stone Library.

  • The reason you don’t get replacement liners is because the operatives walk around the streets with the bin that they collect the food waste in. The lorry does not accompany them, why I don’t know! When the collections first started the lorry did accompany the operatives. Perhaps they can do their rounds quicker by not continually going back to the lorry. Does not help residents! Residents will stop using the collections if they have to keep going to the library to collect more bags!!!

Despite a call to the council we still haven’t received our caddy. I don’t feel inclined to keep calling them. Neighbours haven’t got one either.
