Stone steps up as former Herons transforms into a dog dancing academy

Paws And Play Dog Dancing AcademyThere’s more paws-itivity in Stone High Street, with the former Heron Foods site set to become a revolutionary Dog Dancing Academy in early May.

In a move that has tails wagging and Stone residents doing a double-take, the former Heron Foods store is set to transform into Staffordshire’s first-ever Dog Dancing Academy. The academy, named “Paws & Play,” promises to put Stone on the map as the epicentre of canine choreography.

According to sources close to the development, “Paws & Play” will offer a range of classes from beginner boogie to advanced agility, all aimed at enhancing the bond between dogs and their owners. Classes will promote physical fitness and mental stimulation for both pets and owners alike. The academy is the brainchild of local dog enthusiast and former dance instructor Sofia Proll. Sofia believes that Stone is the perfect place to pioneer this innovative form of canine entertainment.

“Stone has always been a community that champions its pets and supports creative ventures,” Proll told A Little Bit of Stone. “Dog dancing isn’t just about teaching your dog to move to music; it’s about communication, mutual respect, and most importantly, fun. We’re excited to bring something so unique to the town.”

Community Reaction

The announcement has sparked a mixture of curiosity and excitement among Stone residents, with many dog owners expressing eagerness to sign up their furry friends in the academy.

Avril Jester, owner of a sprightly Springer Spaniel, shared her enthusiasm: “I’ve always known Bella had rhythm in her paws. ‘Paws & Play’ sounds like the perfect place for her to unleash her potential. It’s about time our pets had their own social calendar!”

“Paws & Play” is set to offer a diverse curriculum that includes “Bark Ballroom,” “Scratch and Sniff,” and “Lurcher Linedancing”. The academy also plans to host monthly showcases where dogs can demonstrate their newfound skills to Stone residents, fostering a real sense of community and celebration.

DJ = Dog Jockey

Dedicated Dog Disc Jockey Snoo-pea will spin the tunes. From the Elvis classic “Hound Dog” to the funky beats of the Baha Men’s “Who Let the Dogs Out,” dogs’ tails will be wagging along to the songs.

There are also plans for late-night sessions on Friday and Saturday nights, during which dogs can let their hair down until 1:00am.

Once the sessions launch, we will ensure that they are included in Stone’s number one What’s On Guide.
