Vote for your Fire Service Champion

People in Stone have been urged to vote for their Fire Service Champion of 2012.

Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service’s MORE Staff Awards recognise outstanding contribution and dedication to the profession. There are 10 categories overall but the winner of the publicly nominated ‘Fire Service Champion’ award will have demonstrated a real community spirit or supported people to overcome difficult situations beyond the call of duty.

Peter Dartford, Chief Fire Officer/Chief Executive of Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service, said: “We have handed out 50 MORE Awards to members of staff, partners and student firefighters over the last five years. Staff nominate for the majority of the awards internally. However, members of the public can put forward their own nominations for the ‘Fire Service Champion’ award to someone or a group of people they think deserve the extra recognition.”

Any member of Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service is eligible for nomination, from firefighters to control staff, support staff to Home Fire Risk Check technicians. The nominees will be reviewed by an internal judging panel and up to three nominees will be shortlisted for the award.

Members of the public can make nominations through the Service’s website HERE, by collecting a nomination form from their local fire station or by requesting a form on 01785 898979. The closing date for nominations is December 31 2012.

The award winners will be announced on March 7th next year and Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service is actively seeking sponsorship for the MORE Awards ceremony. Any interested businesses should contact Events Manager Jude Russell on 01785 898579 for further information.
