Walking boots at the ready!

People across Stafford Borough are being encouraged to put their best foot forward and take part in an annual walking festival next month.

The Stafford Borough Walking Festival is back with a programme of over 35 walks in and around the area packed into a week-long event.

The festival is now in its fifth year, and caters for residents of all ages and fitness levels. Last year around 3,000 people took part, and more walks have been added on to the 2014 programme.

This year the council is working closely with schools, nurseries and community groups to get younger residents involved in a range of walking activities – such as treasure hunts, superhero walks and photography walks – with all participants being presented with a certificate as a memento.

The festival takes place between Saturday 3rd and Sunday 11th May, and will include the opportunity to try Nordic Walking, discover the history and architecture of Stafford Town centre, go bat watching at Wolseley Nature Reserve, and a ramble across Cannock chase – as some of the series of walks on offer.
