Bring on Stone Festival 2013!

The festival team were at the farmers’ market on Saturday

The 2013 Stone Festival gets under way on Sunday 2nd June, with a jam-packed week of events leading up to the big carnival day on Saturday 8th.

Members of the festival team were at the farmers’ market on Saturday to spread the word about what is a really great-looking line-up of fun events!

The opening event, as ever, is the traditional Raft Race, starting from the Darlaston Inn at 10am on Sunday 2nd. Always a popular event, this year promises to be as entertaining as ever with lots of teams trying to avoid a ducking on the short trip down the Trent to Westbridge Park.

It will be a busy day for Festival followers – several attractions in Westbridge Park, including the Dog Show, the Westbridge 5 road race and a car boot sale.

During the afternoon the quarter-finals of the Festival Bowls competition will be taking place at Tittensor and all day the Festival Junior Football Competition will be running out in Yarnfield. The Festival Quiz at Granvilles from 7pm finishes off a really busy opening day.

All the usual attractions will be on during the week, with Party in the Park on Friday 7th June – this year with top Rolling Stones tribute ‘Like A Rolling Stone’ and some great local talent.

Tickets are available from Home & Colour in the High Street, Fairway Services on Lichfield Road, or on the Festival website HERE.

Carnival Saturday (8th June) will feature the Parade, followed by an afternoon of fun and entertainment in Westbridge Park, including the now regular helicopter rides and this year the ‘Blazing Saddles’ horse stunt team.

There’s a full run-down of all this year’s events – and lots more information – on the festival website at www.stonefestival.co.uk

Here’s a video of last year’s parade (let’s hope for better weather this year!)…
