A student and keen cricketer has been found dead at his home on the Aston Lodge estate.
Police and paramedics were called to the family home of Nathan Lightfoot, who was 18, on Wednesday morning.
The night before, the Eccleshall Cricket Club all-rounder had been coaching the club’s under-17s side.
Now tests are being carried out to try to find out how the Alleyne’s High School sixth-former died.
His parents Steve and Val told The Sentinel that they are “devastated”.
A minute’s silence was held on Saturday before matches in the North Staffs and South Cheshire League in tribute to the 1st XI player.
A-level student Nathan had been studying business studies, English literature and psychology at the Stone school.
Staffordshire Police were called at 11am on Wednesday. Detectives are not treating Nathan’s death as suspicious and a report is being prepared for the coroner.

My thoughts are very much with the friends and family of Nathan. A tragic loss for them
