What an amazing weekend in Stone! Thousands and thousands of people, good weather and a brilliant Food and Drink Festival. Here’s a photo slideshow from Friday’s opener. All pictures by Joshua Cope – loads more to come from Saturday and Sunday soon, as well as lots of audio and video.

Saturday was a fiasco paid £12 for my sister and I to get in (2 children free) But paid for what? walked around marquees unable to see anything because of huge numbers, queues to buy a drink horrendous and nowhere to sit had we bought one.Kids couldn’t get into childrens tent – too full, couldn’t find demonstration tent – no signage – 1 child temporarily lost mad panic as no stewards in sight, found child and left after 30 mins. Organisers had let far too many people in not sure how everyone would have exited in case of an emergency

Sorry you had a bad experience – these popular events can become victims of their success. Last year when the weather had been great before the event, we were all sat on the ground having a giant picnic. You could never put up enough seats for everyone – it would need a whole field just for that. Early morning and late afternoon the crowds thin out making viewing easier.
