The construction company that has been working on electrical repairs in Stone town centre says the paving stones in Market Square will be reinstalled in the New Year.

Morgan Sindall carried out the scheduled electrical cabling work on behalf of Western Power Distribution – and filled in the areas they had dug out with Tarmac, as the photograph above shows. It’s not a pretty sight. However, a Morgan Sindall spokesman said this is a temporary finish “to minimise disruption over Christmas” and that the area will be fully restored in the New Year.

It raises the obvious question: who commisssioned the work and on what basis regarding the start and finish times?
