Christmas Light Switch On – OFF however the Christmas lights will still be going up!

The Mid-November Christmas Light Switch-On event in Stone High Street is off for 2020, however, the Christmas Lights will still be going up!Christmas lights

It probably comes as no surprise that Stone Town Council has today released information that they won’t be holding a Christmas Lights Switch-On this year. The Town Council, however, is working with Father Christmas to stage a virtual Christmas light switch on that can be viewed online and they’ll be relasing details of that in the future.

A town council spokesperson told A Little Bit of Stone:

“We are naturally very disappointed not to be able to hold this very popular event in the town but must consider our residents and visitors safety.

This does not mean we will not have Christmas lights as they will still be operating over the normal Christmas period, and will include some exciting new displays.”

Councillor Jill Hood, Chairman of the Council’s Tourism and Town Promotion Sub-Committee added:

“I am saddened that due to the current situation we have been forced to cancel the actual switch on as it’s an event that everyone enjoys.

We have spoken to Father Christmas and he has promised to come to Stone for the “virtual” switch-on of the lights, which residents will be able to view remotely. Details will follow “
