Families in Stone are being reminded that free summer holiday activity places are available locally through Staffordshire’s Holiday Activities and Food programme.
The countywide HAF scheme is aimed at children and young people aged 5 to 16 who receive benefit related free school meals, with some additional places available for children referred through professional services.
One of the Stone providers taking part this summer is Playtivity STEAM Club, which is running Playtivity STEAM Adventures at Frank Jordan Community Centre, Lichfield Street, Stone.
The sessions are for children aged 5 to 11 and include activities linked to STEAM, which covers science, technology, engineering, arts and maths.
Playtivity says its summer programme will include space adventures, robotics and coding, science experiments, engineering challenges, creative arts and design, nature exploration, active games and sports.
The first listed session takes place on Monday 20 July, from 9am to 1pm. Lunch is included.
HAF funded places are free for eligible children, while some paid places may also be available depending on the provider.
The programme is available for children who receive benefit related free school meals, as well as children referred through professional services. Families who need further support are advised to contact their local Family Hub.
Additional HAF places may also be allocated to children who are not eligible for benefit related free school meals, including looked after or previously looked after children, young carers, children receiving statutory support from a social worker or Early Help worker, children in need, children with low school attendance or at risk of exclusion, siblings of a child attending a HAF club with an eligibility code, and children eligible for free school meals in another county while living in Staffordshire.
