Stone man jailed for 17 years for sexual offences

A man from Stone has been jailed for 17 years after being found guilty of raping and sexually assaulting a number of women.

Shane Davis

Shane Davis, aged 36, was sentenced at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on Tuesday, 16th September, after a jury convicted him of five sexual offences following an earlier trial.

Davis was charged with seven offences in total, including:

  • Three counts of rape of a woman
  • Three counts of sexual assault of a female
  • One count of intentional strangulation

Following a detailed investigation, Davis was found guilty of five of the charges.

Investigators praise survivors’ bravery

Detectives from Staffordshire Police’s rape and serious sexual offences unit (RASSO) led the inquiry. They gathered evidence to secure charges and supported those affected throughout the case.

DC Charlotte Morrey said:

“I would like to thank all the survivors who came forward to tell us what had happened to them in this case. They have shown immense bravery and courage to help us secure the conviction against Davis.

“I hope this encourages and shows any survivors that they will be listened to and positive action will be taken against those responsible for these horrific crimes.”

Support for victims

Staffordshire Police have reminded survivors of sexual abuse and assault that support is available and that all reports are taken seriously. Specialist officers are trained to handle cases with sensitivity and confidentiality.
