Stone Town Council Secures Additional Free Parking

Stone Police Station ParkingStone Town Council has secured the use of the car park at the rear of the former Stone Police Station as an additional free shoppers car park for the Christmas and New Year period.

The Staffordshire Police and Crime Commissioner has supported an approach from the Town Council to make this currently unused space on the edge of the town centre available to shoppers at this busy time of year. The car park will be operated by the Town Council from Saturday 2nd December 2017 until mid-January 2018.

Free parking will be available between 10:00am and 6:30pm daily, with the car park locked at other times, but it will be open all night on 6th December for the Town’s eagerly awaited late night shopping evening. Full details here!

The car park can be accessed via Station Road and is on the right hand side as you travel up.
Councillor Rob Kenney, Chairman of the Council’s General Purposes Committee, said:

“I am very pleased to be able to make this extra space available to provide additional free parking for shoppers during the busy Christmas period. I hope that this will encourage more shoppers into the town to enjoy our many fine shops, pubs and restaurants. I am grateful to the Police and Crime Commissioner for supporting this Town Council initiative.”
